Bursting with flavors, made with seasonal veggies, Camargue black rice, anti-inflammatory superfoods, fatty acids, which protect the skin barrier, fiber, probiotics and prebiotics rich ingredients, plant-based proteins and a dressing made with adaptogens that are good for the skin (which I told you all about in my article “The 7 best adaptogens to take care of your beauty from the inside out.“).
Today I am sharing with you my skin special recipe, Beauty Bowl and its adaptogenic dressing, which will nourish both body and mind simultaneously! A simple step by step, of a bowl that’s not ordinary to say the least, delicious, nourishing, and rich in skin and health benefits.
The idea here is to be creative, to think abundantly and to use the treasures that the season has to offer. Here is what I like to choose to build my bowl in a wholesome and tasty way.
Let’s start with a base of GREENS, take your favorite bowl and fill it with a bed of leafy green: lettuce, kale, swiss chard, rainbow chard, baby spinach, arugula… There is no shortage of choices during this season, in mine I’ve used a mix of lettuce. This base of leafy green is essential for your bowl, it is a great source of fiber and chlorophyll.
Then add some COLORS, not only is it a real sensory experience, first a visual pleasure before being a pleasure for our tastebuds, but each shade that nature offers us represents specific antioxidants and minerals that stimulate beauty and vitality and which we will need depending on the season. Try to count at least four to five colors in your plate. Here I’ve added yellow with golden beetroot, red with goji berries, pink and white with radishes, orange with carrot and green with asparagus and salad.
Adding at least one ingredient which is WATER rich, is one of the secrets to plumped skin, detoxified organs, continuous energy and a sharp mind. Eat your water… yes you read that right! When you consume foods that are rich in water, water stays in your body longer, helping digestion, hydrating the kidneys and colon, aiding to flush out toxins, and providing deep hydration and nourishment. Think about adding hydrating foods such as: cucumber, zucchini, radishes, celery, salad, citrus fruits or even tomatoes (when it’s in season).
The little EXTRAS that make a difference, such as incorporating SUPERFOODS, especially those with a high ORAC such as goji berries, spinach, beets etc… which contain some of the highest concentrations of antioxidants. I also added turmeric which is an anti-inflammatory superfood to the dressing. Also you can add sprouted seeds and aromatic herbs (here fresh parsley) which are full of benefits. Add food rich in probiotics like here the lacto-fermented cabbage carrot mix and lacto-fermented tofu and also food rich in prebiotics such as asparagus, garlic in the sauce (but also artichoke, leeks, onions) … they will notably promote gut health, nourish the microbiome, help improve digestion, cleanse the skin and strengthen the immune system.
And last but not least let’s not forget THE DRESSING, because everything is better with a good dressing!
Don’t be afraid to add a source of HEALTHY FATS, it will notably allow the body to better assimilate the nutrients present in your bowl (in particular Vitamins A, D, E and K). You can easily Incorporate healthy fats into your meals with : a dressing with your cold-pressed organic oil of choice; you can also add nuts, seeds or avocado.
It could be a simple, well-seasoned vinaigrette with flaxseed oil and apple cider vinegar, a lemon tahini dressing or…my special adaptogenic dressing for a radiant skin. The easiest and most common way to consume adaptogens on a daily basis is to put them in your morning (or evening) drink, but have you ever thought about including them in a dressing?
Find below, my easy-to-make dressing recipe, with Hygée’s La Beauté adaptogens mix, including Goji Berry and Amla. This synergy will protect the skin against oxidative stress, illuminate the complexion, fight against skin aging and strengthen the nails and hair.
For the dressing, you will need: (for a jar)
- 140g cashew nuts
- 125ml of water
- 1 peeled carrot
- 2 tablespoons of lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon of ground turmeric
- 1 small clove of garlic
- 1 teaspoon of La Beauté mix by Hygée
- Salt & pepper
Place the cashews to soak in hot water for 15 minutes (or up to an hour if you have time, they’ll be easier to blend) and then drain them.
Cut the carrot into pieces.
Pour all the ingredients into the bowl of a powerful blender and blend until you get a creamy consistency. Scrape the sides with a spatula and mix again. Add more water if needed. Add a large spoonful to your bowl.
This dressing can also be used as a dip for raw veggies or even as a spread on toasts. Store in an airtight jar in the refrigerator for 4 to 5 days.
